Winning debut in WRC 2
On its competitive debut in a WRC 2 event, our new i20 N Rally 2 car claimed a brilliant victory in Ypres Rally Belgium. Jari Huttunen and his co-driver Mikko Lukka secured their 2nd win this season with a determined fight to the finish on an action-packed and incident-filled weekend for the WRC 2 contenders. Oliver Solberg & Aaron Johnston, meanwhile, had moved into the WRC 2 lead during Friday afternoon’s loop. Sadly, they were forced to stop on the final morning after an electrical issue prevented them from leaving parc fermé.
Podium in Acropolis Rally
The Estonian duo had been chasing the podium from the very start of the 15-stage rally, taking a stage win on the first full day on the demanding gravel roads. Ott and Martin did everything they needed to and ended the rally with their third podium result of the season. Successfully fending off the advances of Sébastien Ogier on Saturday, the duo finished second place.
WRC2 : Encouraging Signs in Acropolis Rally
The second event for our brand-new i20 N Rally 2 car resulted in mixed fortunes for our Customer Racing Junior Driver Oliver Solberg and his co-driver Aaron Johnston as they were forced to retire from Acropolis Rally. The crew had shown impressive speed, taking stage wins on Friday and Saturday morning. However, a crash on Saturday’s opening loop caused suspension damage and forced them to retire. Despite the retirement, Oliver and Aaron showcased the potential of the new car. Every time they had a smooth run, they were by far the quickest.
